About Holbox Island, Mexico
Located at the north east of the state of Quintana Roo, Holbox island is the point of union between the water of the golf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. A unique and original place that starts as a fisherman village and turned into the favorite place in México to visit for many tourists around the world.
HOW TO GET TO HOLBOX ISLAND
However, if you are travelling by road, the only means of reaching Holbox is by ferry from the mainland. To catch the ferry to Holbox, you need to head to a small fishing village called Chiquila. This is the only location operating a ferry service to Holbox and is a 2-3 hour drive from Cancun.
Holbox kiteboarding spots as an island in the Mexico. It extends over 12kms long and 1.5 km wide, and it is a small paradise, the premises are usually fishermen and the pace of life is very quiet.
To navigate, the main beach (1.5 km long) is perfect : The water is turquoise and there is all the space necessary to kite. We have foot on 100m, so it’s ideal for beginners. Beware however, sometimes the wind blows offshore. But as we walk on a good part of the spot, the place remains very accessible.
